Utah's Land and Life

The Natural History Museum of Utah's exhibitions are rich in incredible artifacts offering countless opportunities to study our state's natural history. From ancient past worlds to present day inhabitants, Museum guests come away with a greater understanding of the natural wonder and the cultural heritage of this amazing place. 

Now, we invite you to explore NHMU's exhibitions from the comfort of your own home in a series of engaging videos. These are not just simple tours of the Museum's spaces, but lessons in natural history led by NHMU's expert scientists and educators.

In Episode Two, scientists including NHMU's Chief Curator, Dr. Randall Irmis, introduce guests to Utah's amazing geological record in the Land Gallery. They'll lead you on a journey through time by examining layer upon layer of rock deposited over millions of years. Then, we switch gears to explore the life that thrives in Utah's four distinct ecosystems, with a closer look at the fascinating world of fungi.
