This event is free, and Museum admission is not required to attend the mini concerts, performances, or workshops.

Event Schedule

Jyothsna demonstrates Bharatanatyam in a colorful outfit.

5 p.m. — Rhythm and Strings: Hindustani classical music mini concert and workshop featuring Wade Evans on Sitar and the valley's own virtuoso Debanjan Bhattacharjee on Tabla.

6 p.m. — Carnatic Classical Music: mini concert and workshop highlighting the structure of a Carnatic Raga by Krithiga Mohan, accompanied by Sarvesh Sriram on the Mridangam

7 p.m. — Bharatanatyam: mini performance and workshop exploring storytelling through movement with Baharatanatyam dancers of Nitya Nritya Dance Company, led by Artistic Director Jyothsna Sainath

About the Community Curator

Nitya Nritya Foundation, based in Salt Lake City and rooted in the classical Indian dance form of Bharatanatyam, nurtures a passion for Indian performing arts by providing a platform for dancers, musicians, and artists locally based in Utah and from across the globe. The purpose of Nitya Nritya Foundation is to help create and nurture an appreciation of the classical Indian performing arts in Utah. It seeks to pursue this goal by providing a platform for Indian classical dancers and musicians, local or otherwise, promoting collaborative work across genres, and to reach audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds.
