The Horse: Mini Leather Saddle Artist Workshop

Saturday, November 8, 2014 - 10:00am - 2:00pm
The Natural History Museum of Utah

Join Master Leather Crafter Diamond Jim Davis and construct a miniature leather saddle. Participants will learn each part of a saddle as well as the art of stamping, tooling, staining, oiling, and stitching that goes into a full-size saddle. Participants will leave with their own hand-made miniature saddle, a few leather crafting tools, and an understanding of how a master leather crafter designs and constructs a saddle.

Diamond Jim Davis has been working leather since he was a young boy. His work has earned him many awards at county and state fairs. Davis’s pieces have been used regularly in movies as historical props. For the past eight years, he has worked as a master leather crafter at This is The Place Heritage Park.
