Where Science and Art Converge: Scientific Illustration

In this workshop, you’ll practice carefully observing the features of plants and learn techniques for accurately drawing them from scientific illustrator Natalia Wilkins.  Begin your own naturalist’s sketchbook to capture your artistic observations on future Museum visits and wherever you go in the natural world.  No previous drawing experience or skills required.

Who Can Participate?

NHMU’s Family Workshops are designed for children between the ages of 8 and 16 accompanied by an adult 25 years of age or older. One adult is required for every 4 children.

About the Expert: 

Natalia holds a Science Illustration Master Certificate from the prestigious California State University, Monterey Bay program as well as a Botanical Illustration Certificate from the Denver Botanical Gardens.  She spent last summer documenting rock art panels for NHMU.
