Sixth–Seventh Grade Summer Camp Sessions

NHMU sixth and seventh grade camp sessions are for students who will enter 6th – 7th grades in the fall of 2019. For Partner Camp listings, where needed, transportation between sites is provided. Please note that not all school districts begin and end summer break at the same time—check your school schedule before registering.

Adventure Camp for Girls

Partner Camp with Camp Kostopulos

It’s the best of both worlds! While at Camp K each morning, campers will participate in outdoor camp activities like ropes courses, swimming, spending time with the horses, field games, and adventure treks, along with campfires and s’mores! While at the Museum, we’ll unleash your inner geek as we explore the Bonneville Shoreline Trail while using GPS units, investigate macro- and micro-invertebrates and pH testing along with forensic science. Drop your camper off at Camp K in the morning by 8:30am and pick them up at NHMU at 4:30 each afternoon. Transportation between sites will be provided.

Adventure Camp for Boys

Soft Sculpture

Partner Camp with Clever Octopus

Join us as we create art inspired by several artist we admire using reclaimed fabric, found objects, loads of foam, wood blocks, wire, and other materials destined for the landfill. Inspired by Lucy Sparrow and Holly Levell, we'll create squishy soft food; motivated by artist Bryant Holsenbeck, we’ll fashion our own wrapped fabric animals; and after learning more about the art of Serena Garcia Dalla Venezia and Judith Scott, we’ll design textile sculptures. We'll roll, wrap, stuff, stitch, staple, glue, and even bring out the hand crank sewing machines! Come prepared to be outside each day under shade tents—We promise, we'll keep cool with plenty of water and squirt guns. Drop off and pick up take place at NHMU. This is an outdoor camp that will take place around the Museum site.

Art with Power Tools for Girls Only

Partner Camp with Clever Octopus

Art + power tools = loads of fun! Campers will learn to use power tools safely and build 3D sculptures using materials destined for the landfill. We will create junkbots, reverse paint plexiglass wall art, carve woodblocks for printmaking, and so much more. Come prepared to be outside each day under shade tents—We promise, we'll keep cool with plenty of water and squirt guns. Drop off and pick up take place at NHMU. This is an outdoor camp that will take place around the Museum site.
