The Natural History Museum of Utah | Rio Tinto Center

About this workshop:

Handbound journals

Discover the art of bookmaking in this beginner-focused NHMU Craft Workshop presented by Craft Lake City! Local creative Claire Taylor is ready to teach you how to adapt a simple bookmaking stitch into a more complex form. In this hands-on workshop, Taylor will guide workshop participants through the creation of two book forms as they build on their bookmaking skills using the pamphlet stitch. Workshop participants will also learn about bookmaking anatomy, nature drawing, watercolor techniques and scientific drawing practices. Each attendee will leave with a handbound, softcover book form that can be used as a notebook or journal, and each participant will have the option to add watercolor to the cover for a personal touch. Materials will be provided and no experience is necessary.
