The Natural History Museum of Utah | Rio Tinto Center

This workshop is sold out. See other upcoming Craft Workshops here

Still in need of a red rock theme this winter? Come to our upcoming Paint Mixer Workshop featuring Arches National Park.

About this workshop:

An embroidery of a red rock landscape.

Create your own embroidered landscape in an NHMU Craft Workshop presented by Craft Lake City! Local fiber artist Rachel Erickson of Olive + Thread will teach attendees the basics of embroidery using three fundamental stitches. Participants will go through the step-by-step process of making an embroidered hoop inspired by Utah's Arches National Park, and will leave with the skills and knowledge to create future fiber projects of their own. Materials will be provided. This is a beginner-focused workshop and no experience is necessary.

About the artist:

Olive + Thread is a one-woman business run by Rachel Erickson that captures the beauty of America's landscapes in the embroidery form, with a focus on the National Parks. Rachel is a self-taught embroidery artist and when she's not at her day job, she's usually with her cat, Louie, stitching up a new landscape or rewatching shows on Netflix. One of her goals is to visit all the National Parks in America and then design a pattern for each of them.

Presented by Craft Lake City and the Natural History Museum of Utah.
