Scientist in the Spotlight: Gamma Rays with Andrew Smith

Friday, April 19, 2013 - 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Life Gallery - Naturalist Lab

Star-swallowing black holes, spinning neutron stars, and remnants of supernovas past may hold the key to our understanding of how the universe creates particles with energies trillions of times greater than anything that we can produce on Earth.
Join astrophysicist Andrew Smith to learn about these mysterious objects which send vast numbers of high-energy particles our way, thousands of them passing through your body everyday without you noticing! Come find out how these particles are created in space, and see some of them actually passing though the air in front of you.

Be sure to participate in Astronomy Week activities also taking place at this time.
