Scientist in the Spotlight: Mammals of the Philippines with Eric Rickart

Friday, March 4, 2016 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Life Gallery - Naturalist Lab

The Philippine Islands are home to some of the world’s most extreme mammals: a giant bat with a 5-foot wingspan, a rat the size of a cat, and a tiny nocturnal primate only 4-5 inches long. Of the 206 known native mammals, 57% are found only in the Philippines. Dr. Eric Rickart will discuss the incredibly diverse and unique mammals of the Philippines and highlight key discoveries from his 30 years of mammal research on these islands. Examine specimens from his research and learn more about these amazing islands.
