Don Those Party Hats and Ring in the New Year at The Natural History Museum of Utah's 5th Annual Noon Year's Eve Celebration
SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 16, 2019 – Party with the whole family at The Natural History Museum of Utah’s Noon Year’s Eve celebration and countdown to 2020 on Tuesday, Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Rio Tinto Center, 301 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City. Get ready to celebrate in style and usher in a brand-new decade while enjoying music from a local DJ, special hands-on activities and access to the Museum’s new exhibit, Nature All Around Us, as well as the Museum galleries. All activities will lead up to the countdown to a confetti explosion at noon. Noon Year’s Eve is included in the regular price of admission.
“It’s an exciting time of year here at the Natural History Museum of Utah with our special exhibit, Nature All Around Us, now open and our annual Noon Year’s Eve celebration where we are literally having a blast — with confetti cannons!” explains Paulmichael Maxfield, Public Programs Manager. “Noon Year’s Eve is the perfect way to ring in the new year with those little ones who can’t quite stay up until midnight. We hope to see friends and families come out and ring in 2020 with us!”
“Noon Year’s Eve is a fun, family-friendly way to ring in the New Year that is a creative, accessible and festive but not cold, late or exhausting,” said Caroline Kaufman, who came last year for the first time with her two daughters. “My experience at that event led me to buy a museum membership — and I won the hula hoop contest!”
To commemorate the Museum’s 50th year, this year’s Noon Year’s Eve guests will be treated to a free Cronut and noisemaker. Guests also will have the chance to explore the new Nature All Arounds Us special exhibition, fully conceptualized and produced in-house by the Museum’s creative exhibits team, with the support of outstanding community partners.
In addition, guests can participate in various activities including:
- Time Capsule Activity where favorite Museum memories and hopes for the future will be recorded
- Winter Specimens brought out of the archives for the event including snowflake slides and winter animals
- Nature Collage and coloring art activity in honor of the Nature All Around Us exhibit
- Yeti Snowball Fight game
- Hot Chocolate Relay Race game
