Online Reservation Request for Self-Guided Field Trips

Current School Year (2017-2018)

All sponsored free admissions have been awarded. The discounted school group rate is available to all education and youth groups; please submit a request*.

Additional sponsorship opportunities for groups in need are available; please submit a request to learn more.

*Morning field trips for March and April are at capacity.

Summer Field Trips (June-August)

Wednesdays and Fridays with two time blocks from 9:45am-11:45am and 1:30pm-3:30pm.

  • Lunch space is not available. Groups planning a lunch or snack must make alternative plans to eat at another location.
  • Sponsored free field trips for Utah public and charter schools will be available starting July 1.

2018-2019 School Year

Requests will open August 1.

NHMU is transitioning to a new request system. Keep an eye out for an email with instructions.

Please note:

  • Due to high volume of requests during peak times it will help expedite processing your request if you fill out first and second date choices. Additional dates and times can be listed in the comments section.
  • Submitting a request does not guarantee a reservation.

Once you have clicked submit, verify that you have received the "Thank you for requesting a field trip" page or your request may not have successfully completed.

Self-Guided Field Trip Reservation Request Form


The Museum has found the following adult to student ratios to be optimal for students, chaperones, and teachers to have the best museum experience:

Pre-K, Elementary

Between 1:4 and 1:6

Middle School, Junior High, High School

No fewer than 1 adult: 10 students

All chaperones that come with Utah public and charter schools will receive FREE admission.

Preferred Visit Date

Advance reservation for lunch space is required - requesting lunch space does not guarantee a reservation.

  • The lunchroom is scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If we cannot accommodate your request, you will need to make alternate arrangements, as there are no other designated spaces for school groups to eat either inside or outside of the Museum.
  • Lunchroom capacity is 88 - larger groups will require multiple lunch times.
