Access to the Range Creek Field Station is administered by the Natural History Museum of Utah and is limited to pedestrian and horse traffic. To protect the canyon, a maximum of 28 public visitors are permitted per day May 15-Nov. 30 (permit availability in May depends on weather and road safety as snow melts). Camping is allowed at the north gate campground and by special permit at the big game hunt campsite. Camping is NOT allowed on BLM Wilderness land within the Special Recreation Management Area adjacent to the field station (contact BLM Price Field Office for details).

Day-permit access to the Range Creek Field Station is only allowed from the north entrance, through the Field Station's north gate.

  • Access to Range Creek Canyon beyond the North Gate entrance is limited to pedestrian and horse traffic only, NO BICYCLES. Overnight camping is permitted only at a campsite located at the gate and by special permit at the single-party big game hunt campsite.
  • Individual public visitors are on their own while visiting the field station. There are no exhibits or museum staff available to provide tours in Range Creek Canyon.
