Great Salt Lake Discoveries
Partner Camp with FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake
The Great Salt Lake is ours to discover! With staff from FRIENDS of GSL, you’ll investigate the cool and unique ecosystem at the Great Salt Lake, from brine shrimp to water bugs and everything in-between. We’ll visit places like Antelope Island and Farmington Bay, conduct salty experiments, chew pickle weed, and watch birds through binoculars. We are investigators, adventurous, and love being outside.
Drop off and pick up take place at NHMU. Transportation to field trip locations is provided. No camp on Friday.

Rockets, Wings & Flying Things
Partner Camp with Tracy Aviary
Join us for a week of aeronautical study as we investigate everything that flies, soars, glides, orbits, or floats in the sky from planes, kites and rockets to birds, mammals and insects! Monday and Tuesday campers will be at Tracy Aviary, exploring the world of birds from bone density, beaks, and feet to flight patterns and habitats. Wednesday and Thursday will be at the Museum, investigating the forces of flight with activities involving kites, planes, rockets, and more!
Drop off and pick up on Monday and Tuesday take place at Tracy Aviary. Wednesday and Thursday will be at NHMU. No camp on Friday.

Behind the Scenes
Partner Camp with Red Butte Garden
Join us to find out what it takes to run a world class Arboretum and Museum. Monday and Tuesday will be spent at Red Butte Garden, one of the largest botanical gardens in the Intermountain West and Utah’s state arboretum. Campers will visit and work with Garden experts, using the tools of the trade as they help with activities that keep the Garden thriving. Campers will also get a chance to visit staff-only spaces like the greenhouses and amphitheater. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent at NHMU. As Utah’s state natural history museum, NHMU introduces the amazing variety of Utah’s geology, flora, and fauna—both ancient and modern. With over 5,000 artifacts on display, and many more behind the scenes, campers will experience a wide variety of hands-on exploration from touring collections and labs, to learning from curators and staff. Campers will also have an opportunity to curate their own display of the “Museum of Me.”

Expedition Wildlife
Partner Camp with Camp Kostopulos
Let’s explore! Monday and Tuesday at Camp K participants will explore the Utah foothills in Emigration Canyon as they go on ecological expeditions to learn about interconnected network of the ecosystem including water, soil, temperature, sunlight, pollution, wind, plants, insects, and animals. Students will also enjoy science experiments, create nature-inspired art, and more. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent at the Museum, learning about Citizen Science and wildlife conservation. We’ll utilize iNaturalist, an app that serves a global community for nature observation and identification and get up close and personal with several of our education animals while also learning about problems and solutions to animal endangerment and protection. Plus, get an exclusive tour of our Wildlife Rescue exhibit!
Drop off and pick up on Monday and Tuesday take place at Camp K. Wednesday and Thursday will be at NHMU. No camp on Friday.

Geology 101
Calling all rock hounds…join us for a land-slide of in-depth geologic exploration! Throughout the week campers will learn about fossils, geologic time, rock and mineral types, and the rock cycle. We’ll also explore luminescence, plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, erosion, and the common features of our landscape. Plus, visit the Geology Department and the Seismology Lab on campus!
This camp takes place entirely at NHMU, Monday-Thursday. No camp on Friday.

Camp 'Ology'
‘Ology’ means ‘the study of’ and we will be doing just that at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Join us for 4 days of discovery as we investigate what it means to be a biologist, anthropologist, geologist, and climatologist while also breaking down those fields into more specified titles like paleontologist. We’ll unpack the science with hands-on experiments and projects, Museum investigations and tours, chats with scientists and student guided inquiry.
This camp takes place entirely at NHMU, Monday-Thursday. No camp on Friday.

Engineering Lab
Power up your engineering skills with daily challenges and builds! Throughout the week campers will explore the Engineering Design Process as they construct things like towers, roller coasters, bristle bots, art bots, mechanical claws, and more! We’ll also dabble in VEX IQ robotic components and circuits.
This camp takes place entirely at NHMU, Monday-Thursday. No camp on Friday.

Dynamic Universe
Partner Camp with the Clark Planetarium
Journey through the galaxy and explore the mysteries of Earth and space. At the Clark Planetarium on Monday and Tuesday campers will learn about the planets, stars and constellations while enjoying other spaced-out projects and activities. Wednesday and Thursday at NHMU will find campers investigating the powerful processes that sculpt our Earth. We’ll also explore rocks, minerals, volcanoes, and earthquakes.
Drop off and pick up on Monday and Tuesday takes place at Clark Planetarium. Wednesday and Thursday will be at NHMU. No camp on Friday.
