See Summer Camp FAQs here.

Kindergarten Sessions

NHMU Kindergarten camps are designed for children who will enter Kindergarten in the fall of 2024 and who are completely potty trained. All sessions are offered half-day (AM or PM); most are Monday – Thursday format. We have 2 short weeks that run Monday – Wednesday. Note that AM and PM sessions are identical in content and so full day registration is not permitted. Your camper will need to bring a snack and a water bottle each day. Please note that not all school districts begin and end summer break at the same time—check your school schedule before registering.

Let’s Build with LEGO®

Join us for a week of LEGO® building bliss! Campers will utilize a range of LEGO® educational kits as they build bridges, pinwheels, spinning tops, launchers, and more. Campers will practice critical thinking while strengthening communication and problem-solving skills as they participate in these STEAM-related projects. Please note that students will take apart all LEGO® creations at the end of each session and will not keep any of the LEGO® bricks.

Weather Watchers

Join us as we explore our ever-changing seasons, severe weather patterns, temperature, and more! Campers will create shadow and sun print art, tour the Museum’s galleries, explore weather watching tools, investigate weather’s effect on living things, and track daily atmospheric phenomena all while making new friends and strengthening their problem-solving skills.

Jr. Detectives

In this camp session students will utilize the scientific method to explore their world. They’ll observe, collect, and interpret information while drawing conclusions and communicating with others as they learn about the world around them. From investigating life cycles and survival needs to exploring fossils, plants, and physics—we’ve got it all in this session.

SENSEsational Science

Our bodies do some amazing things! Each day campers will build upon their ‘monster bodies’ as they learn about each of the five senses—from mystery smells, ear anatomy, and taste tests to animal eyes and texture exploration. We’ll also find time to tour the Museum and create some great art. Come and SEE for yourself!

It’s Alive

This session will have students actively exploring living and extinct animals (including dinosaurs!). From classifying and comparing to investigating life cycles and survival needs—we’ve got it all in this session. Campers will explore Museum exhibits, create animal-related projects and artwork all while making new friends and acquiring life-skills in science.

R is for ROCKS!

Get ready to dig into geology in this rockin’ camp! Come explore the rocks, minerals, and processes that make up the Earth. You’ll learn what rocks are made of while investigating rock types and the rock cycle. Plus, start a rock collection of your very own!

In Our Backyards

Imaginative play, authentic specimens, and time spent outdoors will provide open-ended opportunities for active engagement in a safe environment. Junior scientists will be captivated by the variety of life found in their very own yards as they examine worms and snails, explore life under rocks and leaves, and examine the insides of seeds.
