Driving to the Loading Dock

NHMU’s Loading Dock is located on the northwestern most part of the building.  Drive through Research Park and go up the hill towards the Museum.

Pass the entrance to the Museum's parking lot, and continue up the hill approximately 20 feet.

Then, take a right turn into the Museum's circle.

Follow the circle around and look for the brown and black loading dock gates.

Drive throug the gates, and pull up to the loading dock Bay 2 (unless it is occupied). Once you arrive, look for the person you have planned to meet.

If the person you have planned to meet is not there, you can try calling them on their phone, or you can contact Museum Security. To contact security, locate the door on the north side of the loading dock. Then, find the security button just to the right of the door. Press that button and security will let you in and help you find the person you are trying to reach.

Please note that vehicles are not permitted to park in the Loading Dock.  All vehicles must be moved once you have finished loading.

Parking at the Rio Tinto Center

The Museum has two levels of surface parking adjacent to the building.  It is an uphill walk from the parking lot to the Museum's main entrance featuring footpaths, stairways, and ramps for visitors in strollers and wheelchairs.  Along the footpaths are markers indicating major geological time periods covering 150 million years.

Drivers may drop passengers at the turnaround and then park vehicles.  Please note: Children under eight should not be left at the turnaround without an adult chaperone.

In the event that overflow parking is needed, please follow signs or directions from attendants indicating the location of additional parking.  Additional street parking is also available on Colorow Road, one block west of the Museum.
