Meet David!

This workshop is presented by David W. Richerson,

Mineralogy Collections Manager, Natural History Museum of Utah

Evidence from rocks and fossils about prehistoric life, geology, geography and climate

With David W. Richerson, Mineralogy Collections Manager, Natural History Museum of Utah

10:30 am to 1:00 pm in NHMU's Swaner Forum

The workshop will provide teachers with a wealth of information and ideas about teaching earth science following the new curriculum science standards.  The focus is on helping the students explore the importance of using evidence from rocks and fossils to piece together what the Earth was like at various times over the past 600 million years including changes that have occurred in Utah.  The workshop content is especially helpful for 4th Grade and 7th grade teachers and students.  Each teacher will receive highly pictorial PowerPoint presentations that can be used in their classes, lesson plans to support the presentations, and will participate in hands-on activities during the workshop to become familiar with types of rocks and fossils that provide evidence of the Earth’s past.
