Title of Talk: A Brief History of the Utah Apiary Program
Talk Description: The Utah Apiary Program is older than the state of Utah itself and is one of the oldest active apiary programs in the country. Join us to learn about what we do in the program, why we do it, and how honeybee health is important, not just to beekeepers, but to all persons who eat food!
Bio: As an apiary inspector with the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, my job is multifaceted. I primarily focus on honeybee health by providing hive inspection services to beekeepers across the state. Additionally, the UDAF Apiary program offers laboratory testing services for a variety of honeybee diseases. By also working with other states in the nation, we collectively ensure the health of honeybees for commercial and hobby beekeepers alike.
