Film Screening + Curator Conversation with Toby Wright and Lisa Thompson

The Sorenson Impact Institute, in partnership with the Natural History Museum of Utah, will welcome Toby Wright, acclaimed landscape artist and instructor at the Florence Academy of Art, for a week-long campus residency at the U of U, exploring the intersection of art, climate science, and environmental humanities.

On September 18, NHMU will host a screening of Wright's documentary film, Workshop with a Ghost, which chronicles his journey through the Alps to recreate iconic landscape paintings by artists such as Sargent and Turner to highlight environmental impacts of climate change on these once pristine environments. Following the screening, Wright will engage in a discussion with Lisa Thompson, “Climate of Hope” exhibit developer and interpretive planner at NHMU, about positive ways to advance climate awareness and action in response to ongoing scientific and conservation developments.
