Get a taste of the current scientific research happening in Utah. Meet three fascinating scientists who have prepared a smorgasbord of science for you to savor in an informal, interactive cafe-style setting. Each scientist will dish out their research in 15 minutes or less, then lead a lively, 15-minute group Q&A discussion. 

 

  • Whodunit?: Solving a 2-million-year-old cold case
    Alyssa, McGarth, Paleo-Ecologist
    • Alyssa leads the audience through her efforts to solve a 2 millIon year old murder mystery. Who killed the giant mammals of the Ice Age?
  • X-Raying the Centers of Galaxies
    Samantha Creech, X-Ray Astronomer
    • Sam's research takes her to the very center of supermassive black holes in an attempt to understand how our galaxy came to be.
  • Cosmic Cartography: How to Map the Universe
    Tyler Hagen, cosmologist 
    • Tyler taps into a telescope's 5,000 eyes to unlock the secrets hidden in the fading light of distant stars and galaxies.

 

Included in Museum admission, free to members and University of Utah faculty, staff, and students with a current U ID.
Light refreshments will be provided.
