Portrait Photography Terms and Conditions for NHMU

The Natural History Museum of Utah at the Rio Tinto Center allows private portrait photography on Museum Premises. The Museum defines portrait photography to include wedding, engagement, family portraits, or other posed portraiture of individuals by professional photographers or by amateurs acting in the role of a professional. Museum Premises include all areas inside the building, as well as all terraces, both located in the front and sides of the building, as well as the sidewalks leading to the front entrance. If you do not receive prior approval, we will ask your group to cease the photography session.

You will need to purchase a Portrait Photography Permit for non-exclusive use of the Museum, which includes the admission fee for the photographer and one assistant. Photographers and clients are limited to the public areas of the Museum. Fees are assessed on a case-by-case basis and are relative to the scale of the production. The fee will need to be paid the day of the photography session.

To schedule a photography session, please fill out the Film and Photo Request Form.
