Get Your DIY on with Two Unique Workshops Inspired by Nature

This fall, the Natural History Museum of Utah is teaming up with Craft Lake City for two exciting new DIY workshops. Both events will take place in the Naturalist Lab and are part of the Museum’s After Dark series held on Wednesday evenings.

Created to meet the needs of Utah’s large and varied do-it-yourself population, Craft Lake City organizes crafting activities and events monthly and annually. Founder Angela H. Brown, started Craft Lake City as a charitable organization, with the belief that all things handmade are ultimately “craft.” Angela and her dedicated group of artisans and volunteers, also host the largest DIY Festival in Utah each year.

“Partnering with Craft Lake City is a great opportunity for the Museum,” says Public Programs Coordinator Paul Michael Maxfield. “Workshops like this create an ideal setting for people to discover their inner artist and explore the various intersections between science, nature, and art.”

Jeremy Riley of Lie Creative will be presenting the first workshop October 7, 2015.  Jeremy excels when it comes to creating unique, one of kind handcrafted jewelry pieces from unusual materials. Workshop attendees will be learning the fine art of making their very own bone necklace creations.

The second workshop held November 4, 2015, features Pam Martinson Olson, founder of Native Flower Company, who will teach attendees how to create beautiful and unique fall centerpieces. Pamela loves the natural world and all things botanical. She is also committed to buying from local flower growers whenever possible.
