These resources have been compiled by the Critical Action Lab team to help you gain a basic understanding of climate change; its causes and effects around the world and here in Utah. There are also sections on what you can do to be part of the solution in your community. At the end of this page there are additional resources for educators and parents in helping youth understand climate change.

 

Learn About Climate Science

  • Causes and Effects of Climate Change This short video from National Geographic explains what we mean by greenhouse gases and how those emissions contribute to a changing climate.
  • Greenhouse Gas Emission Sources This report from the United States Environmental Protection Agency outlines what sources contribute the most to greenhouse gas emissions and how emissions have changed over time.
  • Data Science and Climate Change A look into how data collection and analysis help us better understand and combat climate change around the world.
  • Health and the Environment Learn from the Environmental Health Sciences Center at the University of California Davis about how the changing climate is affecting our health. 

 

Climate Change in Utah

  • Understanding Climate Change in Utah An insightful look from the experts who helped design NHMU’s own Climate of Hope exhibit. The article explores how Utah’s climate has changed over time and the effects it has on the environment and our health.
  • Will We Choose to Save the Great Salt Lake A deep dive from The Nature Conservancy into how human activity and climate change have shaped the Great Salt Lake. The article, also, looks at past and current efforts to advocate for Great Salt Lake conservation.
