Vertebrate Zoology Collections History

The Natural History of Utah Vertebrate Zoology collections houses around 80,000 specimens from four different taxonomic groups: reptiles and amphibians, birds and mammals. Each specimen can have multiple objects associated with it including the skull, skin, and tissues. These collections were assembled over a century of scientific research at the University of Utah and continue to grow with ongoing studies. Watch this short clip below of NHMU's Vertebrate Zoology Collections Manager describe some of the collections oldest specimens and those that collected them.
