Discussing Microsculpture with Levon Biss
On July 18, 2024, NHMU's executive director, Dr. Jason Cryan, and entomology collections manager, Christy Bills, sat down for a livestream conversation with Levon Biss, the photographer behind the special exhibition Microsculpture. Jason and Christy are both expert entomologists, and had been eager to talk to Levon about his years-long project photographing the dazzling invertebrate collections of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Questions roamed from the history of the project, to discovering wonder in tiny things, to the technical challenges Levon faced to preserve the stunning details of his tiny subjects.
