People of the Great Salt Lake - Stay Curious, Utah!

Val Allyse at the Great Salt Lake

When we think of the Great Salt Lake we often think of the ecosystems it supports. We may think of the birds, the insects, the plants; but we may forget a key part to this great wetland - the people. Learning more about our place in an ecosystem can help us better connect with that place. Try to discover how you and your students may be connected to the place in which you live.

Great Salt Lake Migration Stories

NHMU members ponder on the migration of birds and insects of the Great Salt Lake. Listen as they share their own migration stories about where they came from and how they too ended up in this valley. Their stories, like many others, started elsewhere. Maybe yours did too.

My Migration Story Activity

Everyone came from somewhere. Being able to share where our families are from and our own migration stories can help each of us find pride in where we're from and who we are. Watch the video above and give your students a chance to share their own stories.
