NHMU First-Grade Summer Camps
NHMU offers exciting camps for children entering first grade in fall 2025. Most camps run Monday through Thursday, with three special weeks offering a Monday-Wednesday format. We offer several day-long sessions, in addition to one half day option. Each day-long camp day includes a morning snack break, lunch break, and an afternoon snack break. And remember, Museum Members receive a discount! Become a Member today!
Important Details:
- Food and Drink: For full-day sessions, pack two substantial snacks, a non-refrigerated lunch, and a water bottle daily. For half day session, a snack and a water bottle are needed.
- Session Registration: Camps with the same title are identical; register for only one session of each camp.
- Drop-Off and Pick-Up: Held at NHMU unless otherwise specified.
- School Schedule: Summer break start and end dates vary by school district, so please check your school’s calendar before registering.
Registration Limit: Due to Utah childcare licensing exemptions for out-of-school programs, each camper may attend a maximum of five weeks of camp.
Dino Art Adventure
Get ready for a roaring, creative adventure! In this 3-day camp, we’ll dive into the world of dinosaurs, explore colorful science, and get our hands messy with art. On Monday it's all about mixing art and science! Campers will dissect flowers and create beautiful petal paintings, go on a color scavenger hunt, and make wild bubble and soil art. Tuesday and Wednesday, campers will investigate the amazing dinosaurs of the Mesozoic era, learning about the fierce predators and gentle giants that roamed the Earth and get a behind-the-scenes look at real fossils in the Paleontology Lab and explore NHMU’s Past Worlds Gallery! We'll also explore rocks, minerals, and the processes that make up the Earth. Each day will be packed with fun, hands-on activities that blend creativity with discovery. Choose from a full-day or half-day option and join us for a camp full of artistic dino-mite fun!

Space Cadets
3…2…1…Blast Off! Get ready for an out-of-this-world adventure with this incredible camp that takes kids on an exciting journey into space! Campers will put their scientific skills to the test as they investigate the wonders of the solar system, design and launch their very own rockets, and create detailed models of planets. They'll explore stars, constellations, and the mysteries of the universe, all while diving into hands-on, spaced-out projects and activities. With every experiment and discovery, young astronauts will fuel their curiosity and imagination, making this an unforgettable cosmic experience!

Forces & Fun
Discover the wonders of the physical world in this hands-on, interactive camp! Explore how sound creates vibrations and vibrations make sound. Investigate how objects can only be seen when light illuminates them—and some even make their own light! From pushing and pulling to rolling and floating, dive into the different states of matter—solid, liquid, and gas—and see how they interact. Join us for a dynamic exploration of the materials around us and how we engage with the world. This camp is sure to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for discovery!

Explore Your World: Session A
Partner Camp with Camp Kostopulos
Join us for an action-packed week at two amazing locations! On Monday and Tuesday at NHMU, campers will explore the Museum using scientific tools and methods while investigating things like states of matter, ink chromatography, magnets, and more. Wednesday and Thursday at Camp K participants will explore the Utah foothills in Emigration Canyon as they experience the different elements of plants and wildlife. Through fun, hands-on science experiments and outdoor adventures, discover the importance of how we can help to protect and preserve the environment. Campers will also enjoy nature-inspired art, hiking, fishing, climbing the rock wall, cool off at our brand-new splash pad with interactive water features, and create music with our brand-new outdoor musical instruments. Drop off and pick up will take place at NHMU on Monday and Tuesday and at Camp K on Wednesday and Thursday. No camp on Friday.

Explore Your World: Session B
Partner Camp with Camp Kostopulos

LEGO® Bricks, Gears & Engineers
Get ready for four epic days of building, racing and Creating! Dive into the world of LEGO engineering as you design simple machines, race in a push car derby, build jaw-dropping roller coasters, and take on engineering challenges with your clever creations. Please note that all LEGO® creations will be disassembled at the end of the session, and LEGO® bricks will not be taken home.

Nature Seekers
Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Natural History Museum! Dive into the fascinating world of soil science, backyard critters, and the wonders of plants! From learning about life cycles and habitats to exploring the wonders of living and non-living things. We’ll hit the trails behind the NHMU, uncovering critters and plants in their natural habitats. Plus, unleash your creativity by making nature-inspired art. Get ready for a day full of exploration, discovery, and fun!
