Drop-in DNA Extraction

Pop-by during Behind the Scenes 2023 to help extract insect DNA! 

What: During NHMU's Behind the Scenes event, the public will have the opportunity to do DNA extraction in the Museum's Naturalist Lab, in the Life Gallery on Level 4. All ages welcome! During this drop-in event, pop-by when you can to take part in DNA extraction of insects for the Citizen DNA Barcode Network, learn about DNA barcoding and Utah Ants, and also to learn more about how NHMU's Mycology Lab uses DNA to research Fungi.

Where: Natural History Museum of Utah Naturalist's Lab, Life Gallery, Level 4 

When:

• Sunday, November 12, 2023, 10am-5pm

Additional Details: This event is included with Museum Admission, no registration required. New to DNA extraction? No worries! We welcome people with all abilities and backgrounds - no previous experience required.
