Join NHMU's Citizen Science team to learn how you and your family can use iNaturalist to photograph and learn abour the wild species living in Utah. Then join us for some outdoor exploration, to make your own observations around NHMU! 

We're hosting this event in celebration of the 10th annual City Nature Challenge - where cities around the globe work together to make as many iNaturalist observations as possible in 4 days. Event Schedule:

iNaturalist 101 Presentation

1:00-1:30 PM (no ticket required)

  • Location: NHMU Community Room, Level 2
  • Description: This short powerpoint presentation will be an overview of what the iNaturalist platfrom is, and how you can use it.
  • Audience: Great for Families, or anyone interested to learn more about iNaturalist.

 

NHMU Outdoor Exploration and Bioblitz 

1:30-4:00 PM (no ticket required)

  • Location: outside, look for the NHMU-branded tent!
  • Description: Drop-in to this free outside event at NHMU, where we will explore and photograph nature. We'll have bug nets and jars you can borrow, and will be on hand to answer your nature and iNaturalist questions.
  • Audience: Families, and nature enthusiasts.

What to Bring:

  • Something to take pictures with - like a phone, tablet, or digital camera
  • Other supplies that will help you observe nature (binoculars, nets, etc.)
  • Come prepared to be outside, exploring the nature around NHMU
  • We recommend you create a free iNaturalist account before arriving to NHMU
